Tuma has been on the market for more than three decades and since the first oil crisis, in 1973, it has been investing heavily in the area of energy management. During these years Tuma has been making possible, for their customers, surprising solutions that, besides achieving specific objectives, enable greater profitability with the reduction of energy and other operational expenses.
The use of natural gas for electricity or thermal energy generation, with thermo accumulation, automation and supervision systems, high efficient lamps, air conditioning projects and equipment, and solar energy are examples of technologies to be evaluated in energy management projects.
Retrofitting of Systems
The term ‘retrofit’ means restore, recover and comes from the Latin, retro – come back and from the English, fit - adjust. It covers a number of improvements both in equipment and in the air-conditioning system. The retrofit is generally related to the improving of the conditions of thermal comfort, reduction of energy consumption, optimizing the balance between m2/Kw installed and Kw / h monthly consumption of energy per m2, improving of the operational management conditions of the conditioned area with the use of a supervision system and building management.
Some Tuma success cases in Energy Management:
Telebrás Head office Building - Brasília / DF
In 1976, in a reform of the building, which should generate an increase of 20% of load, TUMA employed pioneering technology, obtaining a 25% reduction in consumption, which meant a saving of 37.5% of energy.

Philco Eletrônica Factory - Contagem / MG
In 1980, it reached a major energy rationalization as the use of thermo accumulation and solar energy, both innovative technologies for that time. The obtained efficiency placed the factory in the routine of worldwide training of executives and as a reference for new Philco-Ford facilities.
Standard Products Factory – Varginha / MG
In 1995, TUMA was hired to execute the facilities of Standard Products in the patterns of the American and Canadian factories of the company. The development of the project and facilities were so surprising that the technology was exported to Mexico.
Cemig Head office Building – Belo Horizonte / MG
In 2001 TUMA executed the retrofitting work without disrupting the activities in the building. The obtained results are generating a reduction of 32% in the consumption of air conditioning and 60% in illumination.
